Dear Esteemed Members of the Network of TB Champions – Kenya,

As 2025 draws to a close, the Board extends its warmest greetings and heartfelt appreciation to you all. This year has truly tested our collective resolve. From the work stop orders in February to the complex Global Fund reprioritization process, we have navigated significant uncertainty and disruption.

Yet, in the face of these hurdles, your leadership, commitment, and resilience have remained the backbone of Kenya’s community-led TB response.

Our Collective Impact in 2025:

Despite the disruptions, the Network remained a critical voice in national processes:

Advocacy & Engagement: We convened consultative forums to gather community priorities and successfully submitted these inputs to the Kenya Coordinating Mechanism (KCM), ensuring that the voices of TB-affected communities were meaningfully represented throughout the reprioritization process.

New Partnerships: While our grant with STOP TB Global came to an end, the Network successfully transitioned to a new role as a sub-recipient under the UNITAID grant for Drug-Resistant TB, implemented through KELIN—a testament to the credibility and relevance of our work.

Institutional Growth: Through participation in the Capacity Improvement Plan (CIP) training with Kenya Red Cross Services, we strengthened our internal systems and governance, positioning the Network for greater sustainability and impact in the years ahead.

A Note on the AGM:

Due to unavoidable programmatic circumstances, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) originally planned for December will now be held in January 2026. This adjustment allows us to begin the new year with renewed focus and strategic clarity. Further communication on the exact dates and arrangements will be shared in due course.

Closing Thoughts:

As we celebrate Christmas, let us draw strength from our unity, solidarity, and shared purpose. Your dedication ensures that the needs and rights of people affected by TB remain visible and prioritized, even in the most challenging times.

May this festive season be a time of rest, reflection, and renewal for you and your loved ones.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2026. Together, we continue the journey toward a TB-free Kenya.

With gratitude,

Michael Macharia
